So is ‘getting
healthy’ or ‘weight loss plan’ still topping your New Year resolution list?
Well, as a matter of fact we know more than 90% of people pledge the same thing
every year but eventually the promise is lost in the sand of time. Nevertheless,
to motivate you a bit we hereby present 10 healthy tips to be followed in this
New Year. So get ready, shoot your will power high and make sure you strictly
adhere to your self-commitments:
1.
Eat
healthy: There is an old quote which says, “A healthy body is a healthy
mind”. True that. Body is the most important thing to pay attention to and
everything here starts with food. So, start paying attention to your diet. This
New Year, increase consumption of vegetables (especially organic food & raw
vegetables), drink plenty of water, minimise junk food, limit sweets etc., are some
of the ways in which you can control your calories and provide essentials
components to your body. Thus, eat healthy and stay fit as a fiddle!
2.
Exercise
daily: Weighing machine not showing the desired no.? Or old clothes nagging
to get donned in? Well, to be precise, no matter what your age or shape you are
in now, exercise is a must. Regular exercising will strengthen your muscles,
keep your bones strong, improve skin texture, make you energetic and active,
provide good sleep and lot more! So hit a Gym or simply jog in morning. It will
not only tone your body so you can wear your favourite LBD but also provide
long lasting health benefits.
3.
Drink
plenty of water: Since our childhood we have been taught that our body is
composed of about 60% water. More the water requirement and so more should be
our consumption rate. So how many glasses do you have in a day? You must know
that drinking 8-10 glasses or say 2-3 litres of water daily is must for human
body. Good water intake ensures proper digestion, flushes and keeps kidneys
healthy, keeps body hydrated, burns calories & fats, makes skin and hair
healthy and also provides many other benefits. So make sure take enough water
daily you stay hydrated every time.
4.
Quit
Smoking: Do you know that a chain smoker is prone to develop serious
diseases such as cancer, diabetes etc. and also reduce his life span with every
cigarette? Yes, with every puff that you inhale, you cut down a few more
minutes from your life. Smoking deteriorate lungs and highly affects the
respiratory system making way for severe diseases like Bronchitis, Asthma, Lung
cancer and more. So this New Year pledge to quit smoking and also avoid second
hand smoking if ever you get in contact of a smoker.
5.
Limit
Alcohol consumption: So do you remember how many drinks you had during this
New Year party? Are you clearly aware about the harmful results of drinking? Experts
say that consistent use of alcohol over time can lead to a significant number
of chronic diseases and neurological problems such as dementia and stroke,
cardiovascular impairments like increased blood pressure and heart attack,
psychiatric problems like depression and anxiety and more. Drinking occasionally is fine but don’t bring
it in your daily routine. Also try consuming healthy drinks like Red wine which
is good for heart rather than the ones which damage your liver brutally.
6.
Get
proper sleep: Are you the one who enjoy late night daily soaps? Or just
stay awake to enjoy cash back on internet as given by telecom operators? Well,
think again. Do you know that an early and long undisputed sleep can do wonders
for your body, mood and most importantly appearance?
It can also increase memory and sharpen your thought process. While on the
other hand lack of sleep has been linked to high risk of obesity and type 2
diabetes. So this new year, make sure you go to bed early and also wake up
early. Also take a nap while back from office and don’t feel guilty about it!
- Meditation: Originated in 1500 BC, meditation even today is a powerful way towards achieving physical and mental fitness. Regular meditation helps in maintaining blood pressure, reduces anxiety attacks and decreases tension-related pain such as headaches, ulcers, insomnia, muscle and joint problems. Further, if you are fond of any creative activity, then meditation will enhance and boost your creative skills and also improve concentration. Thus, making you happy and contented towards life. So take out few minutes every morning or night and practice serious meditation.
- Control Anger: Are you short tempered? Or do you get easily irritable? Well, Honor Society of Nursing (STTI) once answered on anger control. They said that controlling anger will make you feel mentally controlled and de-stressed. Apart of a better professional life, you can experience improvements in personal relationships too. So, increase your self control, minimise your anger, count till 10, laugh, change your mood and find out what makes you happy and follow it. Further, make it a point to feel better and use your anger constructively during times of stress.
- Remain stress free: Low on energy, prolonged sadness, over eating or under eating and high level of irritation are some common symptoms of stress. Stress can affect you at any age and has to be identified quickly before it turns into depression. So this new year, promise yourself to remain stress free. Morning exercise, meditation, giving time for a hobby, eating healthy and avoiding liquor and smoke can help you in keeping away from stress. With low stress, you can feel like a whole new person, happy, relaxed and high on efficiency. So remain stress free and enjoy every bit of your time!
10. Stay happy & love yourself: Are you
the one who wakes up smilingly and ends day with happiness and a sense of
accomplishment? We must know how important it is to feel and stay happy. There
is no fixed mantra which will make you happy; in fact it is something that
comes from within. Play with a child, help someone in need, dress well, love
yourself, travel somewhere, do one thing good for the world and one for self or
take up an activity which connects you with happiness and joy. Thus, love
yourself and make sure you feel joyful and contended. Remember, a happy heart, fresh
mind and healthy body will require few or no medicines in later stages of life!
